I understand. This has been a hard decision, and not one I made lightly. After decades of practicing full-scope gynecology, I found myself facing a choice: retire or focus on the area where I make the biggest difference. I chose to stay, but to do it in a way that feels meaningful, sustainable, and true to my mission.
This is about time, purpose, and the ability to make a real impact. This isn’t about making more money. My goal is to help women in midlife get the thoughtful, personalized care they’ve so often been denied in fast-paced, insurance-based medicine.
Most people don’t realize that for every hour I spend with a patient, there’s often another one to two hours of behind-the-scenes work. It’s what I call “the unseen second shift.” That includes reviewing labs, completing charts, calling pharmacies, responding to patient messages, dealing with insurance companies, and handling the business side of running a practice. For years, I’ve been working 70 to 80 hours a week, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
Many of you have noticed this, whether it’s the time I reply to your portal message or the fact that I call after hours to follow up on something important. I’ve always aimed to give you that kind of attention. But the truth is, this pace is not sustainable. I’ve reached the edge of burnout and seriously considered retirement. Instead, I’ve chosen a different path. I’m scaling back and focusing only on what I believe has the greatest value: menopause care.
Every single day, women tell me they’ve been ignored, brushed off, or told their symptoms are just “part of getting older.” When they finally feel heard and are given real treatment options—whether hormonal or non-hormonal—the results are often life-changing. It doesn’t just improve their health. It improves their relationships, their confidence, their energy, and their ability to be present for their families and their work.
That’s the kind of impact I want to keep making. Those of you who’ve been with me for a while know how much I put into each visit. But that level of care just isn’t possible when juggling high volumes and endless insurance demands. This new model gives me the time and space to continue giving patients what they truly need, without burning out.
If you’ve been part of my practice, thank you. And if you’d like to continue with me, I’d be honored to support you in this next chapter.
